Tennis World Magazine Argentina Joins Serbia, Spain, Czech Republic in Semi-Finals David Nalbandian once again came to the rescue of the Argentine Davis Cup team by defeating Mikhail Youzhny in the deciding fifth rubber of their tie. After a tight first set that ended in a tie-break, Nalbandian seized control of the match to clinch it 7-6, 6-4, 6-3. The victory is his 20th in 24 singles matches, and his record is one of the best of any active player. Defending champions Spain was dealt another severe blow on Sunday when they lost the two remaining dead rubbers in straight sets. Julien Benneteau’s 7-6 6-4 win over Feliciano Lopez wrapped up a humiliating weekend for the Spaniards, who failed to win a single match. The Czech Republic also advanced by beating Chile, and Serbia overcame Croatia to advance to their first ever Davis cup semi-final. Novak Djokovic sealed the deal by crushing the struggling Marin Cilic in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2, and Janko Tipsarevic won the final dead rubber to make the final score 4-1.
