Nadal Struggles Again, Loses Cool
Rafael Nadal was again pushed to five sets at the All England Club on Saturday, this time against German Philipp Petzschner. The Spaniard limped to a 6-4, 4-6, 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 win, but was warned twice by the umpire for receiving coaching from his uncle, who was sitting courtside. Nadal flew into a rage, pointing his finger at the umpire and threatening to complain about him to the tournament referee. He claimed afterwards that he received no coaching and that the warning was unfair.
Robin Soderling remained his cool self in an easy win against Thomaz Bellucci. The Swede has yet to drop his serve at the Championships this year, and is looking like major threat in his part of the draw. He is seeded to meet Nadal in the quarter-finals.
Andy Murray also progressed smoothly into the next round by defeating Gilles Simon 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. The British hope hasn’t lost a set so far, but the pressure on him is sure to grow now that the English football team has been eliminated from the World Cup.
