Hewitt, Querrey Secure Grass Titles
Lleyton Hewitt snapped a 15-match losing streak against Roger Federer in Halle yesterday, beating the Swiss maestro 3-6, 7-6, 6-4. It is only Federer’s second loss on Grass in seven years, and his first in Halle in 29 matches. “It’s fantastic,” Hewitt said after the match. “Roger’s a hell of an opponent; his grass-court record speaks for itself. Any time you play Roger on a grass court you know you’re in for a hell of a battle and I was lucky to get out of today’s match.”
Over in London, Sam Querrey beat fellow American Mardy Fish in the final of the Queen’s Club Championship 7-6, 7-5. Despite being a break down in the second, Querrey came storming back and took the next four games to seal victory. "It´s an honour," Querrey said. "All the greatest players in the world are on this trophy. It´s nice to be added to that list with them. The conditions were pretty tough out there, the windiest day of the week so far. I just tried to stay level headed and keep my composure, and fortunately I got through it."
