Federer Advances to Halle Final
Roger Federer defeated Philipp Petzchner is the semi-finals of the Halle event in Germany to advance to his sixth final there. The first set was a relatively tight affair, with the world number two being extended to a tie-break. The second was more straightforward, with Federer quickly prevailing 6-4. He will now go on to face Lleyton Hewitt, who beat local favourite Benjamin Becker 6-7, 7-6, 6-2. Since 2003, the Swiss maestro has recorded a 76-1 record on grass, and he takes a 17-7 record into the match against his old Australian rival.
In London, Americans Mardy Fish and Sam Querrey will meet in the final after prevailing in their respective semi-finals against Feliciano Lopez and Rainer Schuttler.
