Federer Shines as Murray, Nadal, Djokovic Tumble
In one of the worst weeks for seeds in recent memory, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic were all knocked out of the Queen’s Club tournament in London before the semi-finals. Murray lost to Mardy Fish 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 in a match that was played over two days, while Djokovic fell to unheralded Beglian Xavier Malisse 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Perhaps the biggest shock was the demise of Rafael Nadal, who lost to fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 7-6, 6-4. The prestigious event, which started with a stellar field that included four Top Ten players, is now left with Sam Querrey as the highest ranking player left in the draw (at 22).
Roger Federer steadied the ship over in Halle, however, with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Philipp Kohlschreiber. He is now closing in on his sixth title at the tournament, and will face Philipp Petzschner in the semi-finals.
