Federer, Roddick, Murray Record Grass Wins
Roger Federer extended his winning streak in Halle to 26 matches yesterday with a routine 6-4, 6-4 victory over Jarkko Niemenen. He is the favourite to win his sixth tournament at the German tournament, which is the only warm-up event Federer will take part in before Wimbledon.
Most of the world’s other top players are playing at the Queen’s Club tournament in London, where four-time champion Andy Roddick opened his campaign with an easy 6-1, 6-2 thumping of Igor Kunitsyn. Defending champion Andy Murray struggled at times during his match against Ivan Navarro, and had to fight off several set points in the first set. He steadied the ship though, finally prevailing 7-6, 6-3. Rafael Nadal will play his first match today, where he will face Brazilian Marcos Daniel.
