Grudge Match Set at Paris
Rafael Nadal and Robin Soderling will contest the championship match at the French Open on Sunday, after both men won their semi-final matches. Soderling had a massive fight on his hands against Tomas Berdych, and needed nearly four hours to win 6-3, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3. "It was very close,” he said moments after his victory. “[It] was really tough to play my own game, because he didn´t give me any time at all. He was hitting the ball really hard and really flat."
Nadal won fairly easily against Jurgen Melzer, slipping up only momentarily in the third set when he was broken to love while serving for the match. He eventually clinched a nervy tie-break to advance to his fifth final at Roland Garros. Nadal will now face his first Top 20 opponent of the tournament in Soderling, who is hoping to clinch his first Grand Slam title.
